A huge domestic market growing furiously because of the huge production of passenger and commercial vehicles ensures a better future for consumption of rubber products. As 65% of the rubber goes into automobiles for various usages, the Indian Rubber Industry is set to grow at a fast pace.

India has a huge potential to become a commendable global player due to a strong technically trained manpower base and many supporting institutions for education, training and testing. While India already ranked as the 4th largest consumer - producer of Natural Rubber and the 10th largest total rubber producer; it is the preferred destination for some of the world's largest companies in the rubber industry through direct investment & technical tie-ups.

With around 5000 units manufacturing 35000 rubber products, employing directly 400 hundred thousand people, including around 25000 technically qualified support personnel, with a turnover of US $ 8 billions and contributing US $ 1.6 billions to the National Exchequer through taxes, duties and other levies, the Indian Rubber Industry plays a core sector role in the Indian national economy. The industry has certain distinct advantages like :
  1. An extensive plantation sector
  2. Indigenous availability of the basic raw materials
  3. A huge and ever increasing domestic market
  4. India becomes a major automobile hub, generating substantial demand for rubber made items, including tyres.
  5. Availability of cheap labour
  6. Training facility in various technical institutes
  7. On-going economic reforms
  8. Improved living standards of the masses
